What we do
Areas of work
SafeHere concentrates on three areas of work, each pursued in depth. This page sets out what each involves in practice.

Referral to the appropriate professional
Most people who need help are held back at one of three points: they do not know whom to contact, they cannot afford the professional they have found, or they do not feel able to make the first call alone.
SafeHere intervenes at each of these points. It identifies the type of professional suited to the situation, rather than the first name in a directory. It introduces people to peer networks, which are free and often sustain a person through the waiting period. Where cost is the decisive barrier, it can contribute to the cost of care.*

Two
Alongside
Support for front-line organisations and young leaders
Front-line organisations generally understand precisely what is needed, but often lack the time, reach or design capacity to communicate it. SafeHere begins by understanding what a partner already does, and then supplies what is missing.
The fellowship forms the second strand. Young people receive the budget, contacts and backing to carry out their own work under their own names, so that it endures independently of SafeHere.

Three
Month Seven
Support that continues beyond the usual end point
Support tends to be concentrated at the most acute moment. When a programme ends, contact often ceases, precisely as a person enters the months in which relapse is most likely.
SafeHere remains present. It maintains contact in the seventh month and beyond, providing the follow-up that secures the progress already made.
It also offers access to moderated peer groups on familiar messaging platforms. Joining is fast and private, and members find company and understanding at any hour, without a waiting list.
